Pronunciation of Shiva I have heard Shiva pronounced as shEEva and shIva with shIva having the I sound from someone like Indra. Is this a regional thing? It feels like I hear southern people saying the shIva way more but I'm not Indian so I'm not sure. 2 3 replies

Short Question. Is it discouraged to remember someone and to continue their legacy after their passing? I've always found solace in this thing mentioned above. Maybe because of the movies I watched, like Titanic, Bridge to Terabithia etc. But I always wondered is it discouraged in my own religion? 3 1 replies
I crushed a little small baby spider through the brick I can’t stop feeling bad. I killed a little harmless small spider brutally. Literally crushed her into pieces. I sleep on mattress on floor and last few months back i had red spots on my skin and today morning i also felt something was crawling on skin. I am generally very afraid of spiders very much. In case of cockroach and other insects, i usually pick them from some towel or something and throw them away from door. But today impulsively, i crushed that little spider. after i see... 3 6 replies

Why we believe in spiritual gurus with so much faith? We believe in spiritual Gurus with a lot of faith because we have started to question religion. Normally, we believe in a God, a personal God of our religion. But when we realize that there are some gaps in the logic of God, then we go to spiritual Gurus. But all spiritual Gurus do not have the right spiritual answers. Therefore, to find the right Guru, enlightened master, is a challenge. Just like we need a good GPS, a global positioning system to get to our destination, we need the right... 2 4 replies

A question for And from foreign perspective.... Let's say a certain individual from a foreign land with his/her own traditions accepts dharma and starts following Hinduism. The words and scriptures can be translated with ease to his/her language. While everyone would also agree that sanskrit learning could help not just him but all of us. Though I am confused about cultural practices. A lot of our practices are derivative of sect difference, culture and regional mythology and folklore ...which causes groups to have their own unique identity. Even the satvic traditions have their own cultural differences... 3 4 replies
Thoughts on Vimaan Shastra? I have read the entire book, but it seems pretty incomplete, probably because of British erasing many of the parts of the book or something like that. Well i am not going to talk about that today. I wanted to discuss about the Mercury Vortex Engine, pretty controvercial topic if it comes into the practicality of the machine and its principle. There was a (or maybe is) a possibly under development spy aircraft of the US which was TR-3b, it is a triangular flying object which involves a propulsion... 4 1 replies
