How did you learn Sri Rudram and Chamakam from scratch? I’m curious to hear from those who didn’t grow up learning Sri Rudram and Chamakam but took the effort to master it later in life. * What techniques did you use to memorize and perfect the chanting? * How long did it take you to become fluent in it? * Once you mastered it, do you recite it daily? * If yes, what niyamas (disciplines) do you follow along with the recitation? Would love to hear your experiences and any tips for someone on this journey! 2 0 replies

How do you console yourself and what rituals do you do when you want to give up in life? What do I read and what do I listen to help myself and my family is this difficult time? We are going through lots of money problems and family issues. I try to listen to Shiva Sahasranaam and Vishnu Sahasranaam. Try to read passages from Bhagvad Gita. But I feel like God has left me alone or something. Feeling down I have been looking forward to mahashivratri for a year. Few hours before it started I came down with a stomach bug, absolute worse that I couldn’t even do anything or go to my puja room either. I didn’t do anything at all, I’m starting to wonder if mahadev didn’t want me to worship him at all 😔 5 0 replies
Why is Sri Suktam chanted for all three divine mothers Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati? I wanted to chant a hymn for Bala Tripura Sundari and was advised to chant Sri Suktam which is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Even the Shodashopachara Puja for Bala Tripura Sundari is intertwined with Sri Suktam even though the deity is Parvati incarnate and not a Lakshmi incarnate. Would like to understand more. 1 0 replies
Can someone explain this to me? As my flair suggests, I am currently an Agnostic Christian, but I am thinking about becoming an Agnostic Atheist. But I want to learn more about *all* the current major religions to do that, so I can give unbiased advice and information to religious people! I started a quest today to read *all of* the religions' texts online, starting with the oldest religions to the youngest. So I started with Hinduism, and I started reading the Hindu texts with the Rig Veda. I decided to read the Rig Veda... 3 0 replies
I resonate more with Kaali Ma I’m not religious and I don’t pray. My family is religious except me. I don’t actively practice Hinduism or go to the temple, but that’s because when I was young something traumatic happened to me and I didn’t believe in God, because God didn’t help me. Recently I have been thinking a lot about going to the temple, like it’s a calling. But I refuse to go because I don’t feel a connection, even though my life isn’t going too well. But for some reason I like Kaali Ma.... 5 0 replies

Would you consider Lingayats to be “Hindu”? I find it to be an interesting question because we generally consider “Hindu” as synonymous with Astika. That just means you believe in the authority of the Vedas and the existence of an eternal Atman. However the Lingayats reject the Vedas and Puranas completely, This itself would make them definitionally Nastikas. Yet they worship and believe in Shiva as the ultimate God who they will be united with after death. In cases like these it makes you wonder how far we can take these definitions which really arn’t as... 4 0 replies
