I'm a westerner that watches a lot of Indian movies, and I've notice that despite how prevalent musical numbers are in Indian cinema, I've yet to see an Indian musical. In Western musicals, the musical numbers drive the story and used every time there is a strong emotional beat. But this rarely seems to the case in Indian movies.
