Renting in Bangalore with Family – How Do You Handle the Hassle? I (31M) live in a flat gifted by my parents in a small society (50 flats) near Indiranagar with my wife. We aspire to move to an all-amenity society for our kids (when we have them) and elderly parents (who may come to stay with us), as our current society lacks community spaces. We plan to settle in Bangalore for the long term. While buying such a flat is out of reach, renting seems possible. However, since I have always lived in my own house, I’m struggling with the... 4 2 replies
Rise of Rudeness Having lived in Bangalore for the past eight years, I've noticed a significant shift in people's attitudes over the last two years. Unfortunately, many individuals seem to have become increasingly rude and confrontational, often resorting to verbal abuse. I've encountered two direct incidents in the past three months. 1. During an evening walk, a woman from a first-floor apartment shouted at me to inform her boyfriend, who was sitting on the roadside. It appeared they had an argument, and despite my attempts to call him multiple times, he did... 5 4 replies

What the f is up with water rates in bangalore? I recently moved to bangalore and into a flat in a independent apartment near marathahalli. The owner is super shady, asks for only cash as rent, full months rent in the name of painting charge, refuses to sign on receipts etc. Now he is asking for 200 rupees per kilolitre in the name of water usage charge. Is that reasonable to you bangaloreans? Seems way too exhorbitant to me, something like 50 rupees per kilolitre makes sense to me. My question is what can I do other than threatening... 2 20 replies
Kitten adoption request Found a very emancipated kitten living outside a pure veg cloud kitchen so the poor guy has no source of food. Very playful and friendly kept purring the entire time I was with him. Tried to click a few photos(attached in the comments) but he was too interested in playing with my sweatshirt 😂 I’ll de worm the kitten and give some cat food from my end but I do implore anyone who can to take him in.He can’t survive more than a few days in his current condition.... 2 5 replies
Where did the traffic signal at Kadubeesanahalli junction go? Absolute chaos breaks loose every evening at Kadubeesanahalli junction as very narrow, pothole ridden service roads are overwhelmed with idiot drivers from all directions. On top of it, they removed the traffic signal there when the metro construction started. It takes at least six policemen at all times to ensure traffic flow. Even then a rogue driver would try to fit their van in a small gap and create a deadlock while hurling abuses at everyone else including the police. It is utter madness. 3 6 replies

Appreciation post: Got a new gas connection from official agency in <24 hours I used to buy LPG and it's equipment a local shop vendor. After the vendor refused to replace a leaking regulator which was in warranty, I decided to switch to an agency. I looked for agencies which have good reviews on google maps. Found that LVN Bharatgas(HSR layout, 4.7\*) and SS Bharatgas(Bellandur, 4.4\*) have very good reviews and are near my location. I checked with LVN on call but unfortunately they were not serving in my locality. Next, I checked with SS Bharatgas on call and they serve at... 2 8 replies

Learned Indifference - Root cause of all the problems The major reason for the problems in our society is learned indifference. It is the indifference which is taught and learned. Our education system makes us indifferent towards the problems of the society. Surely, we teach our kids about these issues but by placing more importance on marks and degrees rather than focusing on the problems, it’s of no practical use. No wonder, with increasing literacy levels, the problems of the society are also increasing. Learned Indifference is not a coincidence, it has been cultivated by design. Competition makes... 2 0 replies

Shoutout to the water tanker guy in my locality Water tanker in our area used to cost us 300Rs per load when we moved into our house in 2021. It had reached 600Rs last year when the water crisis in Bangalore hit its peak(which am aware is still very reasonable compared to exorbitant prices in some places in the city). He had assured me he would reduce it once things got back to normal. I never counted on it, assumed it's just one of those things you say to convince customers. However, last month he called me and... 2 0 replies
Beware of Phone Snatching Gang at New Horizon College Busstop My phone was stolen while exiting 500-CA Volvo BMTC bus. I immediately rushed home and locked it from my laptop. According to find my app, the phone is currently at Nagadevanahalli near NICE Road.
