Raised $250k total from a first check fund and angels. We were stuck in that motion where we had term sheets multiple times and things would go wrong. 

Basically, did a reset at the start of last year where I took on fractional work. The fractional firm I started did really well. I funneled that money into my first business as an investment, and now it’s finally starting to take hold. 

We converted our investors to an SEA and are trying to get to $1M by the end of the year. $5M in three years and hopefully get around $50 in the next 15. 

We’ve been able to win against our VC-backed competitors because we do a lot of bespoke and non-scalable stuff in every deal and operate as more of a tech-enabled service. 

I have hated the journey to this point, but our future makes so much more sense for me (as someone who never needed a billion dollars) than our VC future would have.

Few days ago I saw someone make a post saying they don't want to marry the guy (their fiance) but they are forced to marry him only because they have already paid a big amount on the wedding, sent out invitations, fixed the venue, etc. This is one of those cases where having a simple (non-lavish) private wedding would have helped the person cancel the wedding but now they are struggling to take the right decision of cancelling the wedding because they fear how it would impact their family.

I also saw someone in my friends circle who spent around 80 lakhs to do a wedding. They come from a fairly affluent family but still I thought that amount was ridiculously high. In the end their marriage lasted a year and they got divorced. So 80 lakhs down the drain.
