Make a bootable usb of windows with ventoy app from mobile. Boot from usb and do a clean windows install. Maybe that'll fix your issue.

For trading you can just choose the stocks with the highest volume, and then see if the stock has a good volume average also.

Top 50 companies don't necessarily have the highest volumes or volume averages (mrf, page, Honeywell, and the costly Bois are traded very little because obvious reasons).

The major problem in randomly choosing a stock and if the stock doesn't have volumes and isn't a big name, you could have operator shenanigans and insider trading etc which you will get exposed to.

Any stock that doesn't have good liquidity will have days without price movement, and if you are a trader, you'd go insane while you watch the white dojis or consolidations for multiple days. (personal experience on consolidation part).

One heuristic I have started to use in backtests is if the volume average of my stock choice (say xyz) is about 1% of the nifty's volume average approximately (the time frame should also be same, don't compare day frame stock volume to nifty's hourly and go woohoo, you'll get PUNISHED)

Sector choosing is simple honestly. See what's booming (follow news channels for a few days and you'll get an idea), see where govt money is going or expected to go, and your personal interests (an engineer can easily go into auto and IT while fmcg or banks might not be as interesting on average).
