I just ignored them but I wouldn't be able to voice out even the most mundane criticism of Kannada/Tulu/Mlr people/culture/whatever, they're super sensitive. Can't even respond to banter with banter, you just shut up and take it there. (Mangalore isn't bad at all, I don't have any harsh criticism about it really besides my hatred towards MESCOM)

When I was a kid, we were returning from a wedding at palani, and we were a huge group and we all got in at a mid station. Our berths were not together and spread across compartments. It was only me and my uncle in this coach and I entered the train in a diff coach with my parents and then walked over here to sleep.


My uncle was already asleep. Few mins later, my uncle started snoring and it added an additional vibration to the coach. It shook everyone in my cabin and next 2 cabins on each side, awake. People started literally cursing him, turned on lights to inconvenience him. Nobody knew we both were related and I didn't mention it. He snored heavily until 2AM and then he turned around and it stopped. 


We all started sleeping and by 4.30 his position had changed again and the snoring restarted. I had school the morning after reaching Chennai and I cried all the way home asking my mom to allow staying home that day, as I didn't sleep.


And now... As a guy in upper 30s it hates that I've started snoring. Thankfully I realized I snore when my health is not good as in high bad cholesterol, sugar reaching borderline numbers etc. I immediately start changing my routine and lifestyle and snoring stops. For me snoring has become a literal wake up call.
