The same thing happened to me too 😭. I used to stay in a 2bhk with another guy who is a non smoker but he got a new job in a different city, so he moved out of the house and one couple occupied the space but they are smokers/potheads. I made it clear to them that no smoking is allowed in the house for which they said yes, for a few days they smoked outside and then slowly they started smoking in the room with their doors closed. Even tho they used to close the doors and I used to close my doors the smoke filled the entire house and it was hard for me to breath and one day I asked him not to smoke in the room for which he replied I am also paying the rent so I'll smoke and do whatever I want. With that I vacated the room and moved to a PG.

P.S- not gonna live in a sharing flat again ever in my life. It's the worst of all.

I became an Institute Blue for my contribution to sports, graduated with a 7.8 CGPA, and even got placed in a reputed consulting firm. When I look back now, I remember how puzzled and lost I was back then, always questioning why all this was happening to me. But somehow, I took it as a challenge and kept pushing forward.
