1. Women are harassed because of a societal issue. It has nothing to do with profession or anything like that. Perverts will find some excuse to justify.
2. I really don’t think NE women are in big numbers. Typically women get trafficked from places which had a rough economic situation and desperation among the population. The earthquake in Nepal resulted in an upswing in women trafficked from there. General populations are Nepal, Bangladesh, (highest I think is from those 2 places) followed by Central Asia, Africa, etc. Lot of Rohingya women and other ethnic groups from Myanmar get trafficked. It’s an ugly exploitative industry. It looks at availability and market.

Worse he’s trying to imply that the women want to be in prostitution which mostly is not the case - in most cases they were forced or cheated into it.

I lived in Canada for 7 years from 2017 to 2024 and I can vouch for this.

The hatred started in 2022 and has become intolerable now especially on social media. Some of it is due to Russian interference on social media to cause societal discord and a political divide in western countries and some of it is because of the economic crises caused by the pandemic. Canada is still struggling to recover from the pandemic.

When the pandemic first hit in 2020, like in the rest of the world, Canada went into a lockdown, in order to restart the economy the Canadian government chose to resort to immigration rather than raising the wages of workers at the behest of corporations. So starting in 2021, the Canadian government fast tracked and more than doubled the number of temporary study and work permits it began issuing and even the number of PRs it was issuing (Canada has a points based system that goes up to 1200 points for permanent residency and at one point they conducted a draw in 2021 when the score fell to 75, the lowest ever seen and it gave PRs to 23k people - number who got it must be higher because each PR applicant can also have quite a few dependents on their application).

Indians, especially Gujaratis, Haryanvis and Punjabis from less affluent demographics took to Canada in hordes because of the newly lowered entry barriers. I kid you not when I say this but within a few months of 2021, the entire service industry in Toronto turned Indian. When the lockdown ended and things reopened and we came out into the city, all of a sudden all retail workers, fast food workers, uber drivers and uber eats couriers were all Indians. When there is a mass influx of one demographic and also one gender of people, the backlash will be severe. Instead of slowly and steadily increasing the numbers, the government chose to bring too many people in within a short period of time.

Canada always had the second worst housing crisis in the Anglosphere after Australia and this migration exacerbated the housing shortage. Because the entry requirements for PR, study and work permits were reduced, it the quality of people coming in also dropped. You had country bumpkins from the back of nowhere from Gujarat. Haryana and Punjab with 0 English speaking skills in the country. Many of them had also resorted to the jugaadu Indian mindset which is not acceptable in a high trust society like Canada. Stealing from food banks, faking documentation, turning places into ghettos, poor public hygiene and bad civic sense all turned the sentiment against Indians. This was particularly evident in the rental market where they would openly ask for housing options with just Indians or vegetarians or even for people from particular ethnicity, religion or linguistic group. This majorly pissed off many Canadians. The regular Khalistani Vs Haryanvi Indian nationalists clashes haven’t helped the cause either.

Canada should have never let these diploma mills and colleges to recruit international students and should have never lowered its barriers. Now, the locals find it easier to hate on all brown people and even respect to verbal and physical harassment rather than holding their government accountable.

TLDR - mass influx of Indians coupled with poor quality of Indian migrants and our bad behaviour and an economic crisis have mainstreamed anti Indian racism in a major way.

It's not that India as a country through it's research wing invented Yoga. India wasn't even a country when it was invented. A bunch of people would practice yoga all around the Indian subcontinent.
