I think they should have edited and shown it better. They wanted to basically portray that he tries to be nice and respectful to her and all because he doesnt hate her but he doesnt really connect with her and hence doesnt realize that she is hurting ... she waits for him with cakes and all but gets no attention... he just behaves formally with her... and they wanted to skip to the part where he cant pretend anymore... because Nikki and Ishan are in 2 exremes of a marriage so both wont be able to keep up with each other. So now next episode i think is karwa chauth... thats when both will lose it... first karan will lose it on her because I think he doesnt get why mehendi, karva chauth is important for her and how her feelings are attached to it and then Nikki will very understandably be heart broken! I am somewhat happy they reach that point because I want to see how she reacts now... because till now she kept lying to everyone for Ishan...

Now Ishan will be forced to face his demons and the fact that he too lied and broke someone's heart. In his sadness he got so lost that he didnt realize that just he like he kept waiting for his ex... Nikki kept waiting for him... and he just left her broken hearted.
