Won't recommend riding a scooty to Mahabaleshwar. Car driving is fine but there's a stretch of approx 15 kms of ghats before you reach Mahabaleshwar..so if you don't have driving experience of ghats, avoid driving altogether.
I would recommend you to book an Uber to Mahabaleshwar if you are a group of 3-4 people..cost effective, safe and saves a lot of time.

While I understand your point of view, The fee is important. A fee discourages false recheck requests from students. If colleges didn't have a fee for rechecking, Every student will start submitting a request and trying their hand at this "Rechecking" thing. Colleges also have to allocate time and resources to retrieve your paper and then recheck it which sometimes involves logistics as well (getting your paper back from university of sm)
