It starts at home for a LOT of these women/ girls. Take anyone who tolerates these men and you can see how they saw the same patterns at home, either between their parents or between grandparents or between them and the parents or with their siblings and were taught time and again that women are SUPPOSED to tolerate all this. Worst case scenario is that they were even sexually exploited at home and never had an adult who stood up for them. And the society isn't that welcoming either when girls/ women speak up about it. So the ways they found to cope might have taught them to tolerate any shit that people make them go through. There itself you can notice the lack of kindness and compassion they get. The same pattern exists in EVERY system in this country and its scary once you start noticing it. And women aren't the only ones suffering because of it. 


Also, the high that people get addicted to when in such relationships almost always starts at home. As in, the sudden rush of happiness after a huge fight is as addictive as any other intoxicant out here. Basically, their normal is not a stable set of emotions or being treated kindly or with compassion but spontaneous and impulsive emotions because that's what they have been exposed to since childhood. They've been miserable and cried all their lives that happiness is not normal for them. So, life may not be as "exciting" with introverted, kind people. It's high time people stopped using the word exciting for this and see this as an addiction. The brain literally gets addicted to the sudden lows and highs.


Plus the teachers and other elders here are of not much help either, too many of them are cowards (or abusers themselves) who have no idea how to deal with such things and when a child speaks up about their issues, these people show the audacity to say crap like "we've faced worse" or "just pray and you'll get through it". Imagine the situation of an adult who speaks up if this is the case of kids. 


Some women AND men (because let's face it, boys face a lot of crap at home while growing up as well, seemingly not as much as other genders but it's definitely there. Have to take this opportunity to point out that mothers and grandmothers are not always saints who treat their sons and grandsons well. And the ones who are abused are taught to suck it up and pretend like everything is okay. Worst part is that these patterns have been going on for generations.) understand these patterns and try their best to get help in the form of therapy and live a healthy life. Some just stay addicted to the toxic patterns. 


What's of relief is that these days even if people end up in toxic patterns they've understood NOT to procreate until they sort it out.


Yet another scenario is the nature of physical intimacy in abusive relationships. Again, that's an addiction as well. For all genders.
