If you see in hyderabad, most of the people working in Software or having private businesses are from Andhra. Why? Because Telangana due to its 200 to 300 years of Nizam' rule, was suppressed literally and economically due to Urdu imposition and forced religious conversions etc.
By the time Telangana and Andhra were merged, Most of the Andhra people were ahead and educated (due to british rule) and because of merging of these two states, Andhra has got a lot of opportunity as there is a lot of telangana where they can go work, get govermment jobs, start businesses etc.
On the other side Andhra leaders gave importance to Andhra, sidelining Telangana and agreements like Mulki rules, Gentleman's agreement were broken.
So it's like they have grabbed our jobs, opportunities, Water etc.

On top of that, Telangana people and culture were looked down during combined Andhra Pradesh be it in school books, movies or politics.
So, a separate telangana state was Necessary.
