I myself get scared travelling alone if I am stuck walking alone in some alleyway. It’s much worse for girls. All of a sudden some creepy guy decides to follow them to home or vulgarly comments on them indirectly or whistles/honks at them.

That’s why in India girls tread with caution around strangers unlike some other developed countries. It’s very rare that if you like a girl you can walk up to her and compliment her. Most likely she will think you are a kidnapper.
