Oftentimes, there will be a very specific pronounced gap that burns a lot of resources and a startup needs to fill that gap to unlock the progress.

Sometimes thats DevOps, sometimes thats testing, sometimes everyone is junior and they are looking for a dev that can set the direction. Its different every time.

Altogether - read the job posting or ask - it should be plenty apparent what they need.
