As someone who has lived in mumbai, Pune and chennai, i find TVM to be a calm and beautiful city to settle down. I am not sure what you’re looking for, but there are so many scopes to socialise. I had my priorities set while settling down here which was to have a house close to Museum. I am a health freak who doesn’t want to miss out on the major happenings in the city and this place never disappointed me. People here generally understand English though they may-not converse it. And if you’re a doctor, I don’t think salary will be an issue. It’s all about building a reputation.

Learning Malayalam is good and easy brother. Life is simple and good if you got ok job. Buy from small small markets. Good quality and cheap. Don’t do mall shoppings. You have good bus service. use motorcycle or scooter also. Distance in city is small. I live in village. Not so far away. Public library is good. Palayam market is good for fish beef etc. Spice and rice and all you can get there also. There r nice thattu kada shops and good tea shops for food. You have to ask people on this. Some are not good.
