Sorry to hear you're in this position. It's more common than you think. It sounds like you have vested shares (which you will need to likely exercise if you want to keep them if you leave) so there is a cost to that you'll want to be aware of.

That said, this Founder seems relatively clueless about a lot of things. If he can't figure out that treating people with respect is GOOD for his business then I would gander that he also has some shortcomings as it relates to other common sense things like financial strategy and go to market acumen too. I would have serious concerns about the viability of the business overall because of this. And if he's saying things about other people to you, I would bet he's doing the same thing behind your back.

I haven't come across a single person who stayed in a toxic environment like this and didn't regret it in the long term, but I also understand there are many factors at play for you. One thing I've seen people do in this case is start a money-making side hustle which takes the pressure off making this one thing work while you look for a place that might be a much better fit for you.
