once the apk was installed the scammers got access to gallery and could also read sms among other things. with ability to read sms they could generate otp to login to whatsapp.

the access to phone was got because of installing a phony apk. always install apps form the app store only.

sideloading apps is not for the tech challenged.



if you have a copy of the apk scan it [here ](https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload). if possible share the apk so someone else can reverse engineer and check what it does.
