As someone that has witnessed the trauma carried by those who went through this, my heart breaks.

My father was a very young child and his entire family was uprooted from Pakistan to India. He said the sadness of walking in a line and watching the line go in the opposite direction, was heartbreaking. So many died on the way. Including my father’s grandfather. The survivors carry the pain and scars of the trauma their whole lives.

We don’t talk about this enough .

It is NOT wrong to feel irritated by the place of worship which you visit creating too much noise. I've had the experience with a temple I used to regularly go, which was close to my home (I'm now in a diff country and will visit whenever I go home). It wasn't a historic or big temple. It was just a small temple built in 80s. Some new guy became the manager & had to show his "dominance" and started the loud speaker practice in early mornings.

People were not sure if it was a good thing to complain about it or speak with the temple management. I was in college & along with 2 or 3 regular devotees in my age group, went & met the manager and explained the problems it was causing especially around exam time. He used the usual "whatabout them playing prayers & songs loud?"

We said to his face, "We don't like that too, and we don't go there. If you want the devotees of this temple too to not visit here, continue with this" pretty much loudly, and left. This was observed by many temple visitors that day (as I said it was small temple), and many started expressing the displeasure after that. The manager had to back down & within a week, it stopped.

The only times the temple had loud speakers were days prior to Vinayagar Chaturthi, and that too for Kutcheries, dance, Kadha Kalashyebam, Bhajan etc and only during evening time. This continues even till now.
