What are you trying to use this data for?

There’s massive variability in this based on team background and investor FOMO.

You basically either try to raise as much as possible for 10-25% or if you know an amount you need, then you aim to give away 10%, and the VCs will try and get 25%.

As a benchmark, YC’s standard deal is roughly 10% for $500k, so a great team should aim for that with just an idea. Say that’s pre-seed.

Seed you probably want a 15m valuation and like 10k ARR maybe (sign up list will do if you have a good team)

Series A - 80-150m / 1-3m ARR
Series B - 300-500m / 10-30m ARR
Series C - 1b+ / 50m+ ARR

tbh, the "icloud is not a backup" crowd are overly dogmatic. i think for a lot of data, icloud *is* actually a perfectly cromulent backup. yes, it is technically more of a sync service, and yes, if you delete a photo it is also delete from icloud. but as long as you are aware of this, and simply don't delete things that you want to keep, then it's fine? i don't see what the issue is. besides that, even if you do accidentally delete something, you get 30 days to un-delete it.
