I have few suggestions to reduce traffic.

1) All signal lights should have a count down. I have observed that Less than 50% of the signal lights have a count down.

2) All turnings should be smooth. There is always an electric poll or transformer or something at the turning point. This always slows down the traffic.

3) The slabs on the gutter should be at road level. I don't mean the footpath. I mean the area where the gutter is cutting across the road the slabs are always raised.
The slabs are always raised slowing down the traffic and making it harder to turn immediately after crossing the slabs.

4) Car parking must be made compulsory in all new building.

5) The road surface should be smooth.

These are low cost suggestions when compared to building flyovers and tunnels.
