I would say to maybe not couple 2019/2020 with your recent experience to develop a big pattern, those were rough / wierd times.

But, I've always lived by the mantra in my career of "be the most valuable employee humanly f'ing possible" and I think that helped me avoid it. Unfortuantly the marketing SEO fields aren't immune from layoffs, and honestly there aren't really many industries that are immune - just take a look at Boeing, IBM, etc.

But, at your next job, really spend time to get aligned with leadership and to build value at the organization in anyway you can.

Finally, don't make giant decsisions while you are still reacting to a bad day. Maybe give yourself the weekend before you toss your marketing career and experience into a shredder.
