It's inconvenient af to have any kind of career and be up early and idle all morning, and into early afternoon on top of it. This is why real life advantages have direct carryover to trading and investing (inheritance, passive income, business interests, portfolio, education, network, tech).

What is described is not normal behaviour. If anyone behaves like this then it is most likely indicative of a psychological disorder. If a family or is not responsible for such a person then he may need to be reported by the police, apprehended and after being examined by a competent authority, admitted to a psychiatric institute like IPHB in Bambolim.

However I think that there's nothing particularly "Goan" about this. People with various degrees of mental illness are seen in Goa but it could have happened anywhere in the country, indeed the world.

Nor is it a particularly modern phenomenon. However in the not too distant past, people with these kinds of disorders were treated by ghadis (sort of witch doctors) and the close knit family and village communities would try and keep their more unpleasant features of mental illness under control. Nowadays it requires state intervention.

Nothing that I say above is to minimise the trauma that the young women must have experienced and I offer them my sympathy for whatever it's worth.
