    It happens in almost all touristic cities, not just Rajasthan. Never fall for it... If you wanna shop, just ask the locals. But never go to these "shops" where drivers or guides take you.. they get their commission.

    A sizable chunk of these people are very religious Hindus who have never read anything associated to their religion. In other words superstitious people who often succumb to fear-mongering marketing strategies. Regardless of their caste, their life is centered around these fears which BJP knows how to prey upon. These sheep are also some of the blind followers who are swayed by the speeches of Modi.

    You gotta credit the organizational commitment though. BJP and Modi operate a lot more like a shady MNC and its CEO running a company than a government and its PM running a country. What they're doing has several layers of complexity and cannot so easily be disillusioned by asking questions.
