There was a study that showed if you earn around 45,000 per month, you are already richer than 70% of the country. Does that mean if I earn 45,000 I am upper middle class? Absolutely no. If you have to rent a 2 bedroom apartment in a Tier-1 city with decent connectivity so that you don’t spend hours in travel, it is easily 15,000. The remaining 30,000 vanishes like magic in a family of four.

Though the official inflation rate is 5-8%, it is much higher than that. Take your old receipts and compare how much you paid for essentials like oil, pulses, and others like tea powder a year ago and now.

Long story short, if your income is not increasing at a rate of 11% or more, you are indirectly taking a pay cut.

So ladies and gentlemen, hustle. The upper middle class today is the lower middle class of tomorrow.
