sharir (body) is made of pancha tattva ( 5 elements ) -

* akash (space),
* vayu ( air ) ,
* agni ( fire ) ,
* jal (water)
* and prithvi (earth)

once the soul leaves the body. i.e. when the person dies. there body is returned to those 5 elements.

now every religion does the returning in different ways. in hinduism, there are 3 types of procedures that are followed

* those who follow the sanskar tradition and if the person was a worldly person they burn the body in ritualistic way called antim sanskar ( last sanskar ).
* if the person renounced the world and became a sannyasi their body is either put in water ( jal samadhi ) or earth ( bhu samadhi ) because it is said that they have already burnt their bodies previously with gyan agni ( knowledge fire ) when they were alive.
* or if they died too young they are buried in earth.

whatever the case may be the body is returned to the elements it once came from.

after the funeral, the ashes are poured in divine rivers such as the ganga.

What proof do you have that they are from bangladesh not from Assam or North East or West Bengal? They can be legal Bangladeshi as you pointed out.
