What is the biggest problem india is facing today? How would you solve it?
The biggest problem India faces is an highly centralised government. If India wants to solve all the problems that are discussed to death in this sub then it will have to begin with having a strong local government.
Here’s how:
1. Amend laws to give municipal corporations, panchayats, and urban local bodies more authority over land use, infrastructure, and local policy decisions.
2. Increase sources for local govt revenue - allocate fair revenue sharing from GST, allow them to collect taxes from parking fees, property taxes etc. Provide untied grants from the state and central govt and give local govts more flexibility in using them.
3. Separate powers of elected officials and city administration. Elected representatives to hire a CEO to run local bodies, who is expected to run them like a company with professional incentive systems.
4. Mandatory local participation. It must be a legal requirement for local government to consult citizens on major projects. A biweekly town hall meeting must be conducted in the open with public participation. That should be the forum for us to participate in public discourse, not Reddit.
5. Empower urban planning and public works departments. Flush them with funds. Hire skilled professionals. Fund urban planning courses in institutions like IIT and NID to create a funnel.
6. Adopt standardised design templates for pavements, roads, intersections, street furniture etc. No need to reinvent the wheel, this is available in any developed city around the world. Form a sister-city partnership with them and share this resource.
There’s no point continuously talking about issues on Reddit. Public participation has to be at the local level and we just don’t have much opportunities in our current system. -

What is the biggest problem india is facing today? How would you solve it?
Indias biggest problem is its people.. reduce the population to under 100 million (by whatever means) and have a series of sensible/selfless dictators rule it for 100 years.. then india might be able to produce humans worthy of the oxygen they breathe! -
Telangana Slang
I didn't watch the trailer but VD slang is natural. There is an interview when he wasn't even popular, it was same -
What's your view on this??
Good decision! Should be made mandatory on all expressways! That way people will drive carefully and also make sure that their vehicles don't break down on the highway! Alternatively the govt should also make sure that vehicles that actually breakdown or halt on the highway should not breakdown because of the road's inefficiencies or because the road is not maintained properly!
I'm all for this rule of it's is a two way street! -
Thanks to Trump Tariffs, Canada is floating the idea of joining the EU
I also think Australia, New Zealand, Uk, and Canada should make some similar agreement. Not sure what to call it. Taking all ideas! -

If you are conceptually clear in most of the subjects, don't take a year drop. Else, take a year off, grind good and go for a better college.
