Y'know I didn't like it at first. I thought it was the same old kind of domestic drama promoting anti-woman practices as our "culture". But they proved me wrong. Eventually, slowly, the show started challenging the established traditions, with the family showing how you can evolve with the times to become more loving and accepting, even while keeping the parts of your culture which really matter. They showed this in such a realistic manner, with such well written and enjoyable tracks that were compelling and not stressful to watch on a daily basis.

What I find ironic and somewhat shameful is how ITV has DE-evolved from this era...nowadays our female leads have the exact OPPOSITE track of Akshara. They START as overly and unrealistically "strong" and modern. They go charging around making bhashans about women empowerment and mera sapnas and what not, doing absolutely no net good to anyone least of all themselves. Then, slowly, we watch this woman lose her focus, her passion, her integrity, to become yet another soft spoken, submissive bahu who tolerates all her in-laws abuse and opens her mouth ONLY to defend their abusive behaviour. She becomes a suffering shell of her former self, or becomes like woman-child with a pathological refusal to take responsibility for her own choices. I mean thats a truly depressing tragedy, usually capped with her early death so we can make way for her orphan daughter's story 🤡

- China spying on us? Just as much as literally every other social media app on your phone. They haven't been able to come up with any deeper evidence otherwise. If they had it'd be all over the place
- This is absolutely partially a power move from Zuck and Elmo. Their audience shares, their levels of control have been chopped down and they want them back
- Highlights the need for younger, informed politicians instead of the vast current majority hopping on this bill cause it's an easy, no lose Boogeyman
- Brain rot? Absolutely. Debate? This is the Internet, duh.
- But what else can be there? Glimpses into lives, places, ideas we at general might never had interacted with otherwise. And that is a factor we can truly not put a price on
- It's obviously not that China wouldn't sell to an American company, it's the algorithm they can't let out of their hands. No other attempts have even come even close to it
- I try not to blatantly toss things when there have been some true 'good' come from them. For example Aaron Parnass renewing my (very dead) faith in the spirit of journalism
