Sorry Hyderabadis! The food I had on my first day at Hyderabad was very disappointing! The Hype at Cafe Niloufer is Unjustified! The taste wasn’t even good! Shadab - so unhygienic and so over crowded. How are people still going!?! Hope day 2 goes better
Taste is subjective. Personally, I have eaten at pretty much all popular biryani joints in the city over the years and if I go out to eat biryani now, my go to places are Shadab & Cafe Bahar! -
Who would you call middle class in Kerala these days? Is a family income of 50k still considered middle class, or has it gone up to 70k ? I’m talking about a proper middle-class family with two adults and two kids as the baseline.
Family income alone is a limiting indicator to understand class; also the meaning changes over time as well.
In my opinion, the 'middle' middle class in Kochi NOW would have atleast one of the following.
- A minimum family income of 40-45K (for a three member household), or
- 1000+ sq feet house, or
- More than 1 property irrespective of size, or
- Gold of above 15-20 sovereigns, or
- A four wheeler vehicle or multiple two wheelers, or
- 2 lakh+ savings.
Families with several of these in combination can be classified as upper middle class. -
This is wild
Teacher??
YK I'm not religious but in Hinduism, teacher ko maa bap se bhi upar ka darja diya jata hai
And you're calling him teacher?
It's a shame for we all as a society dude ki we've generalised this shit and more than 70 percent students in comments were proud that they study with pneumonics like these
Delete him from india -

Oh no.. I think the fall of social media is here. Or the fall of humanity. I can't even imagine the posts that "influencers" or "creators" would put up (which already is happening). -

What if the British were still in Kerala and all over India? What would the future of our state and country look like? Please share your thoughts on both the positive and negative aspects of such a scenario.
This is such an interesting thought experiment! What if the British never left India i always hear that from friends and colleagues. How different would things be today? It’s one of those questions that crosses your mind when you imagine how history could’ve gone a completely different way.
If we think about the positives, maybe India would’ve had better infrastructure, like even more advanced railways, ports, and maybe even cities that developed faster. Kerala, with its spices, coir, and rubber, might have been turned into an industrial hub earlier. Plus, the education system that the British introduced could’ve expanded more, leading to higher literacy and maybe a more globalized economy. Imagine Kerala as this major port state connected to the world, like Singapore…maybe even ahead of where we are now in some ways.
But then, the negatives are hard to ignore. The British were here to exploit, not uplift. Kerala’s resources like spices and rubber, might have been overexploited even more, with profits flowing out of the state and back to the Empire. Our unique identity, language, and culture might have been sidelined. Worse, “divide and rule” tactics might have left us even more fragmented as a society, with caste and communal divisions deepening over time.
Would Kerala’s progressive reforms like land redistribution, temple entry rights, and our focus on education have even happened? Probably not, because a lot of those were driven by local movements and leaders who were fighting against colonial policies. And without independence, would we ever have had the chance to dream of self governance? It feels like continued British rule would’ve stifled the social and political growth that made Kerala what it is today.
On the flip side, maybe there wouldn’t have been such a desperate need to fight for independence if the British had improved things for the common people. But let’s be real: the colonial system wasn’t designed for that. It was designed to benefit the British, not us.
So yeah, it’s a double edged sword. Sure, we might’ve had some perks, but at what cost?
I wish there was a stimulation software to see an alternate future. ‘what if…the Britishers never left India’ -
