the thing is WE LACK TEACHERS. Many of them in government schools are overworked and even private schools can't find any teachers, they're filling up vacancies with mallu and bengali teachers. I sometimes take tutions instead of my mom when I'm at Gir and trust me even the students in 8-9th class can't do basic divisions.

When I ask 8th class students "name any 5 states" they say "mumbai, delhi, Rajasthan, Pakistan....". I asked them to name neighbours of India and they started naming random places they can think of, not any country, literally any place. "USA, Dubai, Kolkata". Most of them don't even know different between countries, states, districts.... Ask them to name 10 districts of Gujarat and it goes like "Junagadh, Una, Madhya Pradesh"

people usually downplay it by saying "ohhh my kids are just bad in SS because the subject is trash and useless" and "maths is useless, where do u even need it, he/she just isn't good at maths because it's boring".

Only thing parents do is beat the shit out of children till they mock up all answers and write it in tests and exams, they don't care if kids don't understand shit, they tell me "ask my child to write answers 25 times, don't waste time explaining, if he writes he'll understand automatically" (they don't understand anything)
