I belong from UP from the plains between Yamuna and Ganga. My (mother tongue)original dialect/language was a mixture of Braj and Awadhi. I can understand and speak both the language.

I started schooling in an effluent school in one of the biggest cities of UP and naturally I used to converse in my mother tongue and was made fun of, looked upon coz I used to talk in Braj/Awadhi rather than Hindi. Hence I started speaking Hindi to avoid confrontation.

And ever since it has become a norm. I am seeing my dialect/language beginning to die as even in my ancestral village people are speaking Hindi every mode and medium of communication by Govt or Govt related bodies is via Hindi.

By next generation I can see both the languages and other language disappear or go extinct.

I envy Tamil people for protecting their language and hence their identity.

They do, but they are so one sided that nobody really takes them seriously. If a production house tries to file a case, they know they will lose. Plus she is a big celebrity, toh koi timepass nahi karega.

Hindi imposition is seen as a south indian issue because north india has already been fully affected by it.

Few of the states in north india live in a bubble , extreme level of illiteracy and Idiots.. they are unaware of harmony.. they have been doing this for decades against south against NE and all over .. it all comes from home they are casteist and bigots.. most of these idiots are entitled too .. neither development happens nor companies want to move to those places..
And they wonder why south india looks hesitant on their migration.. because they think world revolves around them..
