How do you define what is a choice? Like do all choice have to be fun and likeable or can there be variation? Choice is simply having the freedom to choose your own path. Whether that decision or path is influenced by other factors is another talk.

The story of Draupadi sheds the light on unnecessary attachments with parents and their words. Pandavas beings clear example of it.

Draupadi had a choice to say no. And if she had rejected then it wouldn't have happened that way but she gave in and decided to be married to all five brothers. This is an uncomfortable truth.

Situation aren't always fun and loving. Kunti wanted her son to be married in the series of birth. But Arjuna broke that view. Kunti in her rage demanded something that we all can accept was wrong. Arjuna being a child pegged unnecessarily to her mother's word, made the mistake of trying to convince Draupadi. Nobody should deny what happened in that time period. It was an uncomfortable and honestly unlikeable thing.

Draupadi who was a courageous and bold woman gave in. She made the choice. It doesn't make her wrong but she could have rejected that offer. The problem was she didn't want to come between a mother and a son...so she accepted the proposal.

Nobody can justify that. That's why the Pandavas and kunti were always passive with Draupadi as they had understood what she had to face due to the family's infighting. The social scorn of being first ever woman to be married to 5 men and stuff. To be shared among 5 husbands.

But that's why she is also an icon of courage, boldness and never ending bravery. That's why Krishna made her his sister. He knew what Draupadi was.

Our of all the people in Mahabharata. She is the one of the most likeable and respectable person. She put others before her but was never a shy or quiet, scared person. Even more than Pandavas. but all doesn't happen well with people born with such qualities.
