Agree with all your points about the Goods. Beaches are clean, watersports is basic level but I wasn't really there for that. It does have a natural vibe, not the tourist hotspot vibe you get in North Goa. For food, it was only homemade-served restaurants - which we didn't mind at all. Those looking for the regular North Indian stuff will be disappointed.

Infra definitely can be improved, some roads are just too narrow. Yep, no lavish hotels/resorts. We opted for a modest homestay and really have nothing to complain about. But this might not be to everyone's tastes. Don't really care about the crowd, as long as they are well-behaved, which they were. No wine shops around, so you will have to get your own.

Only disappointment for me was that we visited just before Shravan. I was looking to try crabs and that period of time isn't really suited to getting the big, fat, juicy ones.
