We have a common Hindu civilization that unites us, and that is much stronger than a common language. Chhota mota European countries and settler colonies need a national language, not us.

Hindi is the official language of the central govt along with English. State govts have their own official languages. But Indian citizenship is not based at all on any language. There is no language test or requirement to be Indian and there never will be either.
