I haven't watched this show, but as to how much they can drag the show- just look at Jhanak. Nothing happened in the show for over a year. And the episodes were the same. Entire episodes of Ani's family insulting Jhanak, or Arshi and Shrishti shading Jhanak. And although every month someone got married, none of the weddings were ever completed. Essentially dragged the story out so much.

In the scriptures there's so much eulogy for Surya equivalent to even Vishnu or shiva. He is called supreme in various scriptures. In Ramayana rama worshipped him before battling and called him supreme deity equal to Vishnu or shiva. In the Mahabharata sun priests are mentioned. In the Vedas he is called supreme in various places.

There used to be a saura sect just as popular as shaivism, Vaishnavism, shaktism , Smartas of today. Over time it has died out partially due to islamic invasions.
