  3. Need help in treating mental illnesses

    4 months
It’s not a mental illness; it’s a condition more common in Madurai and nearby districts.

If your brother has completed BE but is not interested in a job, first try to understand his interests. There could be many personal and emotional reasons.

He may struggle with long-term plans due to a lack of stability and commitment, so he keeps changing his environment. He may not be sure what he wants in life and is trying to find himself.

Another reason could be that he feels pressured or judged at home. He may leave temporarily but return when he has no other option.

    Check for External Influence

He may be influenced by friends or someone outside the family encouraging him to leave. Also, frequent unexplained travel can sometimes be linked to drug use or addiction, so check on that.

Talk to him without judgment or comparison. Don’t compare him with others.

Families in Madurai often care too much about society’s opinion, caste, pride, and competition. Instead of living for each other, they live for what others think. If one family has a doctor, others feel the pressure to make their child a doctor too.

    Classic Examples from Madurai

    1. A girl from a well-known ICSE school in Madurai completed 12th. Her parents made her write all entrance exams—NEET, JEE, VITEEE, SRM, and more. She scored 95% in JEE, and her parents forced her to go to IIT. But she wanted to become a veterinary doctor. Under family pressure, she joined IIT but dropped out in her second year. Now, her parents constantly scold and abuse her, leading to severe mental health issues, including schizophrenia.

    2. A boy from the Chettiar community in Madurai completed BE and started a laundry business. His family and relatives criticized him, saying it was a low-status job. He fell into depression and couldn’t handle the pressure.

There are many similar cases in Madurai. Just because you are elders and believe you know everything, don’t immediately assume your brother has a mental illness. Maybe your family has social anxiety or something called Narcissistic Family Dynamics, where the success and failure of children reflect the family’s status.

Many families in South Tamil Nadu, especially those in their 50s, struggled a lot in life. Because of this, they project their fears and insecurities onto their children.

Another Big Issue: Lack of Boundaries

Some families don’t see their children as independent individuals. They expect them to follow family values without question. When a child tries to explore his own path, they see it as rebellion instead of personal growth.

If family pressure becomes too much—emotionally controlling and damaging—it may be a sign of toxic parenting, narcissism, or anxiety disorders within the family itself.

Now, you have already decided that your brother has mental health issues, so no one can change your mind. But please don’t take him to Aahana Hospital and ruin his life completely.

Also, you didn’t mention how he is getting money for travel. If he is not working, where is he getting financial support? That is something important to check.

In the end, this is your family’s matter, so think carefully before making a decision.

RSS , the chaddi gang, is trying hard to polarize the people of Telangana with all these posts. Whatever you do, you will not be successful in Southern states. People here are educated and have jobs and responsibilities. This propaganda works in Bhikari states like UP, Bihar etc

First of all sorry for your loss,, But you need to move on and it's normal to feel low due to the circumstances but you have to bounce back and at your age you have plenty of opportunities... Now the good part is you are not unemployed... First of all time will only heal your loss of your father... Second your girlfriend will comeback or you will get another genuine connection if you become successful as society wants man to be, so do work on building your career... Third yes you are the man of family now so you have to support your sister and mother... Fourth you have to switch your job, do whatever it takes, do some course or enhance your skills and get a better paying job, start preparing today and put all your efforts to that... Fifth no family or friends will ever want you to be successful or will have intent to help you.... So prepare and save yourself, you have a lot of potential at this age, don't be dull and shine like a bright light, everything else will be sorted soon...

You’ve been through hell, but you’re still standing. You’re stronger than you think, and this phase will pass. Focus on what you can control, and take things step by step. You’re not alone.
  7. Does anyone else feel like they waste their time because half the things they do even if requested get pushed aside?

    4 months
    Couple of things here.

    1. Early in your career, this is going to happen more often. But that's okay, because every time you do a task, you get better at everything involved, including the things that you mention might be substandard. The time that you put into making a tool or solving a problem gets you more knowledge, more practice, and more exposure to the company leadership. All of these are good things.

    2. Just because your ideas or tools get shut down doesn't mean you didn't do your job correctly. As you noted, you are getting great performance reviews. Your managers see in you a willingness to take tasks seriously. Sure, they might decide not to go with what you're making, but they are still paying you to do this work. So they obviously see some value in it even if they don't end up turning your efforts into company-wide procedures.

Now, going forward, as you get really good at these sorts of things, at some point your solutions are going to be so good that they *can't* shut them down. Also, as you get into higher levels of authority, you may be the one leading a team of people to make such tools, and with your experience you may be the one to push something through.

Don't be discouraged. Keep on trucking along. Every task you finish is still a feather in your cap. If you were actually doing bad work or solving unimportant problems, your managers wouldn't be giving you glowing reviews. You're doing great.

Hey, ask him if he would be interested in automotive photography. If yes, approach any showrooms (both new/used vehicles) and offer them free promotion in your socials in return for lending them vehicles for photography.

Once you build some good portfolio, you can try to monetize the skills.

It is an untapped market in India AFAIK. Depending on his skill, he can become very successful.

  19. Why do Hindus without reservations, without generational wealth, with dependent parents, tax paying, white money earning, Support BJP?

    4 months
Don't know about religions, but I dont mind the tax. We have better earning and investment opportunities in current times. I attribute this to fintech, better salaries, more exposure, etc.

Zerodha and Kuvera have made life quite easy for the average investor.

I support kejriwal, but not congress. I see congress as more corrupt, and they don't want to reform society at all. They encourage backwardness, reservations, mediocrity.
  20. Is doing a side hustle while engineering a good option?

    4 months
Haha my parents said the same thing. I thought of doing stocks and all and my parents said "padhai pe dhyan laga". Tbh they aren't wrong. Engineering is a demanding degree, assignments exams ye wo, on top of that you also have to develop your skills to be job ready, amidst all this if you are gonna develop some side hustle you might end up compromising both on your studies and also your hustle. You really just have 24 hrs. 8 hrs you'll sleep and 8 hrs you'll be In college. You'll have to optimize the remaining 8. I'll not give you a yes or no, but yeah don't compromise on your studies. Good luck !
