Well my friend who is 40 now has been in such a marriage for more than a decade now. He realised about his homosexuality many years into the marriage. He even has a son. After he came out to his wife, he wanted to divorce. But she simply refused because she doesn't want to deal with the stigma of being a divorcee.
Now they both live on different continents married only on paper. He continues to meet other guys. Idk about her.
