Can someone list down the events that occurred eventually leading to the formation of Uttarakhand?
The turning point in the creation of Uttarakhand came in 1994-95 when the Uttar Pradesh government extended the 27% OBC reservation across the entire state, including the hill regions. This decision had far-reaching consequences for the people of the hills.
Culturally and linguistically, the Pahadi population is distinct from the people of the Uttar Pradesh plains. Moreover, the demographic composition of Uttarakhand’s hill region is vastly different—nearly 84% of the population belongs to upper-caste communities, primarily Brahmins and Rajputs, while the rest belong to SC/ST categories. The OBC population in the hills is negligible, accounting for less than 1%.
Unlike the plains, the hills of Uttarakhand have very limited industrial development, with government jobs being the primary source of employment. Due to this lack of economic opportunities, migration from the hills to the plains has been a long-standing issue.
By enforcing a 27% OBC reservation in a region where OBCs barely exist, the government effectively reduced the already scarce job opportunities available to the native Pahadi people. This policy disproportionately benefited job seekers from the Uttar Pradesh plains, further accelerating migration from the hills.
Adding to the resentment was the brutal handling of the agitation against this decision. The harsh suppression of protests and the imposition of an irrational quota system left a lasting impact on the political landscape of Uttarakhand. As a direct consequence, the Samajwadi Party (SP), which was in power during this period, has never won a single seat in the hill regions of Uttarakhand in any election since. -
Finding Out About Crypto Ruined My Life
As an engineer, I've come to realize that engineers are some of the laziest and smartest dumb people I have ever met.
But that's also the reason why I didn't lose money on the amazing %s Celsius was offering, or LUNA, safemoon, ftx, elondickcoin, etc.
Will i get rich, nah. But I have more than doubled what I invested, and the red days are bought by my 'smart person' salary. Stick to ole reliable and play with the others if you're smart enough to see btc for what it really is. -
Ditching US , best EU country for startups? I will not promote
Go for Baltics (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia). Low taxes, low regulations, everything can be done digitally, modern e-systems. You can check [https://www.startcompany.lt/](https://www.startcompany.lt/) for LT, or e-residence in Estonia. -
Hot take: AI will replace non-technical founders before technical founders [I will not promote]
Hot take for your hot take:
The valuable part of the non-technical founder’s job is their network and their sales skill (both for actual sales and recruiting) both of which are safe in the physical world. If the biggest value you’ve been getting from non-tech cofounders is building decks and doing research then I don’t think you needed a cofounder, but rather an analyst intern. -
Why Does News Affect The Stock Market?
In my experience, what causes most 1+ million shares per day stocks to rise, or fall are dependent mostly on technical analysis. All institutions, banks, and professional hedge fund traders rely on it and rarely check the news at all.

It’s crazy to me how people think Windows has better window management than MacOS.
People actually use Edge? :D I use both Mac and PC. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Apple does need to take a look at File Explorer. Finder is the bane of my existence. -
Elon Musk's DOGE Blocked from Accessing Labor Department Data in Stunning Win for Unions
It’s a stunning win for unions to block illegal access by a foreign agent? Welcome to America 2025 where the bar is so low that legal expectations are now a celebration. Now let’s see this enforced. Which it won’t be. The hole cannot be patched. -

Ocasio-Cortez Says If You Feel Burnt Out By The News Lately, That’s ‘Exactly’ What Trump Wants
We’re living in a reality that echoes Orwell’s *1984*, Huxley’s *Brave New World*, and Postman’s *Amusing Ourselves to Death*.
Around the world democracies are veering toward right-wing ideologies, with the very foundation of democracy quietly eroding and individual rights slipping away, largely unnoticed. What’s worse, no one seems to have the will or energy to resist. Why? Because we’ve been digitally sedated—numbed by social media, streaming apps, and endless screen time. We’re plugged in around the clock, constantly scrolling, posting, liking, and sharing, yet never truly engaging with anything meaningful. We’re addicted, fed exactly what we crave, all while our foggy minds assure us this is all we need. As we grow more distracted, less aware, and increasingly hooked, those in power grow stronger. In the U.S., 90 million eligible voters didn’t bother to cast a ballot. Now, the president is a felon, with his puppet master tied to far-right extremism.
Not long ago, we were on the brink of an uprising—anger was palpable, frustration was everywhere. But it was swiftly quelled. All it took was a flick of the switch. TikTok, which had been down for a few hours, returned to reassure us that everything was fine. The leader had it under control. He saved us from our dopamine starvation.
Make no mistake: You’ll never hear an authoritarian with fascist tendencies suggest people spend less time in their digital bubble. It’s their lifeblood.
But these dictators are elected, right? So why do people want them in power? Because we’re addicts, and addicts feel like crap. We’re constantly discontented. There’s a gnawing emptiness deep inside us, a persistent sense that something is missing. Life feels like it’s slipping away, and nothing ever quite measures up. Everything used to be better, we tell ourselves. And like any addict, instead of looking inward, we point the finger outward, searching for someone to blame. We blame immigrants, the government, or those neighbors who seem to have it all figured out—because we see it all on their feeds: vacations, kitchen renovations, and endless smiles in every picture. Meanwhile, we’re stuck. And as we watch the news, we grow frustrated with how slow democracy moves. Everything needs to be debated, regulated, investigated, voted on. It’s exhausting. If only there were someone who could fix it all. Fast. Easy. It can’t be that hard, right? So, we cast our vote for the strongman who promises to make it all better. We don’t care how—just fix it. Then, we go back to our zombie mode, searching for the next Netflix series to binge.
We need to snap out of it. -
I blame Mitch McConnell for Trump coup. History will not look kindly upon him | Letter
I just don't get it.
What does he even do with the money. How is it worth it to be despised, hated, and the architect of so much misery.
How is it worth it to thoroughly break, and then hand the entire US Democracy over to a spoiled, fat, pants-shitting idiot?
For a few million in the bank? He would have already been wealthy without Citizens United and all the other fuckery. Why? Just why?
I truly don't fucking get it. -

I’m SHOCKED at Trump’s plans for Gaza!
Im just a bit concerned about what Don and Bibi are gonna do with all those Palestinians that cant go home and no one is willing to take.
History has shown that having an ethnic or religious subclass that you want out of your country but have no where to send has been tough to figure out.

8 Men Own More Than Half the World’s Wealth… But Sure, Helping a Billion People Is the Real problem
It's funny how the "America first" people are all for Mars and Gaza and everything but America or our soaring costs all of a sudden! Such good little sheep, they're just waiting on their favorite, elderly, maybe it's Maybelline wearing pedo to tell them what to think next!
