As far as I know, protection money is paid by those who set up illegal businesses in the sense without permission. (I may be wrong here).

You set up everything by rules, the only problem you will be having from political parties is when you mess up with employees wrt salary behaviour etc or you do something which triggers regional wars.

You will be paying office rent and tax so that itself should suffice.

It may be hard, but there is certainly no dearth of high paying jobs in a city like Mumbai, not in this day and age, esp with how prominent ESOPS, RSUs and performance based %age is.

A lot of jobs in finance pay upwards of a crore by the time you are 30, and so do those in law. Even execs in traditional companies these days earn a lot. And then you have tech jobs, which are by far among the most lucrative.

Executives in many orgs earn very well, often earn over 3-4cr a year, many earn on commission/carry/%age.

My parents are salaried employees and they both have very good jobs. Dad is an exec in a traditional company and he’s been paid into the 9 figures since like 2010 or so. Pays like that may have been rare back then, but certainly not anymore—and mind you, traditional companies typically have lower pay structures compared to professionally run kind of companies like we have today.
