Secondly, quality of life is also subjective. For someone like me, it's an air conditioned house, whatever food I like, and able to get good education. But I used to live in a very very remote area for about 12 years. You know what quality of life aspirations for people there were? That they should have hospitals nearby so they didn't have to carry pregnant women on cots crossing mountains, and just enough food to feed the family, and naxalites not harassing them every other day.

And ideally we live in a welfare state, and the state provides the bare basics. So just making a blanket statement "if you can't afford children don't have them" even though logical, is very wrong and reeks of privilege.
