like someone said we lack ethics. we feel really superior when we trick the system or break the law. people take pride when they take bribery, when they use their *source* to get away with something and the worst *sab kar rahe hai toh hum bhi krengaye* attitude.

As a North Indian from Rajasthan I would say that we need to let go of our superiority complex and the false assumptions that we are the center of the Indian culture. In 2015, I moved to Bangalore and it was perhaps the first time I interacted with people from the South and East in a meaningful way. And hanging out with my friends I realised how the most common notions we attach to them, like skin color, looks, etc. hurt them. And all this hoopla about language which I think is ironic. Imagine Kannada or Tamil being mandatory in North Indian schools, but we are always bitching about South Indians not understanding Hindi. And of course the cultural culinary differences are also made into a cause for beef (you know what I mean).


So, overall it's this entitled cultural bullshit belief that we somehow own India (or Bharath if you are in that bandwagon) and the rest of the states and cultures should follow us, is the thing creating all these problems. I moved to Gurgaon after 2 years in Bangalore and was miserable. Here you can only meet people from the Hindi belt, there is hardly any conversation of merit, it's all shoshebaazi or daaru parties. I often meet people who are complaining about the South Indians being difficult and I always tell them to leave their cocoon and expand their horizons a bit.


There was lesson that they used to teach in school which signified India - Unity in Diversity - unfortunately nowadays the message is - us versus them - and it just saddens me to the core.
