rāma is God himself, nārāyaṇa and is a pūrṇa avatar. paramātma has not *cyuti*, that is no degeneration between his original (mūla rūpa) form and his (avatāra rūpa) avatar forms. He is complete and infinite in all his infinite forms.

He doesn't grow up, he doesn't learn, he doesn't really fight, or in fact, he fights as rāvaṇa inside rāvaṇa, lifts the mountain inside hanumān, sits in the aśoka woods waiting as sītā, and also appears to fight as rāma. But since his power is infinite and any karma he does tends to zero. But he takes forms here so that we get joy.

Unlike western philosophies where God does not appear here and nobody knows what he looks like and cannot be even imagined. For the purposes of aiding in *dhyAna* (meditation) God comes down in avatāra forms to do various super-human/human like acts.

So he doesn't need to use astras, because that would mean invoking the help of lower dieties. But he does it so that they also feel joyful that they have aided God in his goal, of guiding jivas to liberation, in some small way.

Compared to rāma even hanumān is like the squirrel that helps him build the bridge. How can anything be compared to the infinite ?
