Marriage and children are an affirmation for a woman of her dignified womanhood in our societal context and anything which violates norms like divorce, death of husband, unable to bear child is looked down upon.

Neena Gupta's "Khana khaya beta?" still brings me to tears immediately and the late great Surekha Sikri? Legend. Jab We Met had an excellent supporting cast (apart from the excellent mains too). I loved Pavan Malhotra as Geet's uncle ("Hum toh Punjabi hain, humein to bahana chahiye!") and Dara Singh as Dadaji was perfect.

Adding to this: Gulzar's Angoor had a *perfect* cast, every single actor even down to the "suspicious" taxi driver who seemed like the only taxi driver in the city 😂 My favourite was Moushmi Chatterjee who was so funny, just constantly hysterical.
