**ZERO MILE IS NOT THE CENTRE OF INDIA:**

BUT.... In colonial times every city used to have a marker like the zero mile it was used by postal department as couriers used to run to between cities carring the mail and they used to get paid based on the number of miles they ran. So to calculate how many miles they ran, these markers used as start and finish points.

Now in nagpur it happened that the geographical centre (i.e. the inscription that is called "G.T.S STANDARD BENCH MARK. 1907" a small stone beside the zero mile piller) and the zero mile were very close to each other so for simplicity we started calling zero mile as the centre of india.

Also the mile markers we see on the roadside start from here so even if nagpur is not the geometrical centre right now, it would remain to be called as such otherwise all the milestones across india would become null and void and would have to be replaced (which will not happen).

The current centre of India after partition is believed to be shifted in a small village near jabalpur.

I liked that the initial MasterChef contestants were regular people who enjoyed cooking... One or two were doing it professionally...
