Older houses are more susceptible imo because of the use of clay / sand that makes it easy for mould to grow. In addition the houses often are surrounded by greenery that makes it even more conducive.

I personally believe humans should stop trying to play God! We assume we know everything and go about destroying or reshaping our surroundings. Yes, mold can be dangerous to some people, but not to everyone. Unless you have someone sensitive to it, just let it be. Moreover it's a part of our local ecosystem and plays a part in it too. Even in India you would only see more mould more in the south and possibly parts of the north east.

So unless you have an infestation inside your house or you have people sensitive to it, just let it be. Needless to say, don't go lick it either (just kidding)
