How to spot Good Acting and Over Acting

I have always had instances where i see a film and loved the acting but when i get online and see hwat others think, it is always the opposite. For example I felt SRK acting in KHNH was good but many said the opposite and I felt Aamir's acting in Laal Singh Chhaddha was bad but most said it was great acting.
