What is replacement program for Disk Utility to scan mechanical drive and give s.m.a.r.t reading?

What is replacement program for Disk Utility to scan mechanical drive and give s.m.a.r.t reading? Main reason is to scan hard drive I have so I can pass data to it. I don't trust Disk Utility I come from Linux and Windows. There lot of info like for example WD Lifegate when scanning it show what sector it's checking and much more other info like smart reading.
