My 2 cents- I have been going to cafes from a long time. I used to live in GGN and went to all cafes there as well. 2 things missing from Hyderabad in my opinion:

1. very small cosy cafes (I think that's not what your friend is looking for but still). There are far too many big luxury cafes in the city which accommodates too many people.
2. There's only one cafe I have gone to several times. Rest every other cafe was mostly one time visit. Kami Hyderabad. The only reason I repeat is because their food is sooo good and experimental that actually works. They're not serving the same afredo, alio olio or sandwiches and the owner is a very passionat chef herself. So, at the end, it's the food that pulls me to them.
