Finding accom is one huge challenge

All arrivals are on the ground floor, and all departures are on the first floor.

Option 1: As you drive in, ask the FASTag/entrance security how to go to the pickup spot. Earlier you couldn't wait for more than 5-10 mins there as cops would come and chase everyone away. Of late I've seen people park and even leave their cars for 1-2 hours at the pickup zone without any hassle. So, this is at your discretion and may change depending on how busy it is and if police are on the rounds. But the last few times I've been there, a lot of people were just leaving their vehicles there and waiting. If you can get in and out within 10 mins, parking is free.

Option 2: Park at the parking facility in one of the Aerohubs, one is closer to domestic, I forget which one. You'd have to park up in one of the top floors and take a lift down to arrivals, find your friend, walk back all the way to your car with luggage. This is the right thing to do but takes extra effort.

If I have time, I go early and park in the Aerohub parking facility, check out the mall or food court and take my time. Otherwise, I just time it right so I get to the pickup, wait 10-15 mins in the car and get out.

This attitude is true for every major university. Worse enough, in some cases the faculties are a major reason behind the attitude as well.

I was a PG student at CEG Guindy more than a decade ago. When it came to placements, there was a clear distinction between which companies the UG students could sit for vs PG. One of the first few dream companies ended up hiring people - all from PG. That's it! Hell broke loose, and imagine people already sitting for another interview were asked to go out since PG students were no longer allowed to compete with them. All that we had left was the Big 4 - TCS, CTS, Infy, Wipro.

And not to forget that major of the UG students who got placed in these "dream" companies went on to do their Masters abroad.
