I was also an atheist but due to my own laziness and ignorance. I also used to think that life is so short, if god made humans, why are they suffering, how come science couldn't find anything about god if it really existed and so many dumb questions. The time was when I was out of high school. Inside my room alone and depressed. I thought why not explore my own culture and religion which people are proud of. As I went by, I realised one thing that most people's idea of god is coming from abrahamic religion, which was the case for me. Eventually my own depression was cured. I started finding answers to questions. Yes, god or the creator may not exist or does exist, nobody can prove unless god himself. But what my religion and the scripture has given me is the ability to differentiate these two. In the end, it's about belief and being a good person, doing good karma, fulfilling your dharma (responsibility) etc.
